Acceptable Use Policy

PostAm SMS is for real businesses sending messages their recipients expect. This page lists the specific things we won't allow — and what happens if you try.

Version 1.0Last updated 18 April 2026

Who PostAm SMS is for

This policy applies to your use of PostAm SMS, a service operated by PostAm Swift Networks Ltd. PostAm SMS is built for Nigerian businesses and organisations with a legitimate reason to send SMS — customer notifications, service updates, appointment reminders, transactional alerts, promotional messages to opted-in audiences, and similar. If you're a real business sending messages people expect, this policy won't slow you down.

Prohibited content

The following content is not permitted on PostAm SMS under any circumstances. We'll block or suspend accounts that attempt to send it, and we may report illegal activity to the appropriate authorities.

Spam and unsolicited bulk messaging

Sending marketing messages to recipients who have not opted in is spam, regardless of how the list was obtained. See our Anti-Spam Policy for details on what counts as valid consent.

Purchased, scraped, or rented contact lists

If you didn't collect the phone number with the recipient's direct, documented consent, you cannot send marketing to it. This applies whether the list came from a data broker, a web scrape, a leaked database, or a friendly exchange with another company.

Gambling and betting

Promotional messages for sports betting, casinos, lotteries, and other gambling products are not permitted on PostAm SMS, including operators licensed in Nigeria. This is a platform policy; we will expand category support only with appropriate vetting in future.

Cryptocurrency and investment schemes

Promotions for crypto tokens, investment schemes, forex signals, and similar "get-rich-quick" categories are not permitted, even when the underlying business is licensed. This includes so-called educational sends that are really lead-gen for unlicensed advisory services.

Political campaigning

Mass political messaging — endorsement, voter mobilisation, candidate promotion — is not permitted during Nigerian electoral periods as defined by INEC. Outside electoral periods, political content requires written approval from us in advance.

Illegal lending

Payday-loan promotions from unlicensed lenders are not permitted. Lenders must show current CBN licensing and appropriate disclosures before any marketing content can be sent.

Phishing and impersonation

You cannot use PostAm SMS to impersonate another company, individual, or government agency. You cannot send messages designed to deceive recipients into sharing credentials, payment information, or personal data.

Adult content

Sexually explicit content, escort services, and similar adult categories are blocked at preflight and not permitted on the platform.

Malware and harmful links

Links pointing to malware, credential-stealing pages, or other harmful content are prohibited. We scan for known-bad URL patterns at preflight.

Prohibited sender identities

You cannot request or use a sender ID that:

  • Impersonates another company, bank, carrier, or government agency you don't own.
  • Uses a promotional keyword (CASH4U, BIGWIN, LOANZZ, MEGADEAL, and similar).
  • Consists entirely of digits or is too short to be distinguishable.
  • Claims regulatory or compliance status you don't hold.

Prohibited practices

In addition to restricted content, these practices are not permitted:

  • Circumventing STOP. Sending to a phone number that has replied STOP or is on your unsubscribe list.
  • Misclassifying message class. Sending marketing content under a transactional class to reach DND-registered numbers.
  • Sharing account credentials. Use team invitations and role assignments instead of sharing one login.
  • Reselling PostAm SMS. Providing PostAm SMS's capacity to third parties as your own SMS product, without a written partnership with us.
  • Sending to numbers you don't have consent for. Even with a purchased list, individual numbers need documented consent for the message class being sent.

What happens if this policy is violated

Depending on severity, one or more of the following:

  • Warning — we email the workspace owner with a description of the violation and what needs to change.
  • Send blocked — the specific campaign is stopped at preflight. Other work continues.
  • Feature restriction — sender ID, marketing-class sends, or similar features are temporarily disabled.
  • Workspace suspension — the workspace is locked pending investigation. Access to billing and export is retained.
  • Workspace termination — for severe or repeated violations. Data retained according to our Privacy Policy.
  • Refund of unused balance — where termination isn't for fraud, unused wallet balance is refunded under the Terms.

Reporting abuse

If you've received an SMS through PostAm SMS that violates this policy — or believe your number or brand is being misused — email us at support@postamglobal.com. Include the sender name and message text if you can. We investigate every report and respond within one business day.
